Absolutely! Here is the article about your two days of fishing

Two Days to Frame: Calamari, Fiorentina, and Passion for fishing

A magnificent “Ottobrata” (Indian summer), one of those that makes you think summer never ended, framed a weekend of pure maritime passion off the coast of the Island of Elba. What began as a simple fishing trip turned into an adventure full of flavours, laughter, and, above all, a generous haul of squid.

Saturday: Departure, Epic Stop, and the Calamari Dance

The adventure kicked off from Bologna at 11:00 AM on Saturday. The first mandatory stop was Lucca, to pick up “Capitan Cinelli,” essential for the crew. But no trip to Tuscany is complete without a gastronomic pit stop. So, at 1:00 PM, the group stopped “dal Pucci” to honour the sacred ritual of the super Fiorentina steak, a boost of energy and flavour before facing the sea.

At 3:30 PM, they arrived at the port of Salivoli, where the mission was clear: to procure the “cartucce,” or squid, vital live bait for the big fishing day ahead. With Riccardo, who, like a true local, knows every secret of these waters, the fishing session began in his reserved spots. Initially timid, the “calamari dance” started around 7:30 PM, turning into a real feast. The haul was abundant, and spirits were sky-high.

The evening continued with an unexpected twist. Upon returning to the hotel for dinner, the crew unintentionally found themselves in the middle of a birthday party with extremely loud music. The notes, though audible as cheerful background music even in the room, didn’t spoil the atmosphere. The guys were having fun, and that was fine; the fatigue and satisfaction from the fishing won out.

Sunday: Dawn Wake-Up and the Mystery of the Dentex

On Sunday, the alarm rang early, at 6:00 AM. A quick breakfast at a bar near the port, and then off they went, aboard the boat, before the sun began to dominate the horizon. The full crew—I, Sorby, Riccardo, and Andrea—was ready to brave the waves in search of the day’s “big fish.”

The morning started with a confirmation: a few more squid were brought aboard, because you can never have enough bait. At 9:00 AM, the rods were set, and the real hunt began. The wait was interrupted at 11:30 AM, when a rod finally took off. Adrenaline shot through the roof, but the use of the downrigger and too much slack in the line played a bad trick. What was presumed to be a beautiful Dentex managed to shake free and unhook. The disappointment was immediate, but the sea, as everyone knows, gives nothing away for free.

Despite the subsequent hours of searching, moving back and forth and changing areas, the day offered no other notable excitement. This time, as is right, the sea won.

Return: A Haul of Calamari and the Classic Delirium

Despite the lack of a catch to show and remember for its weight, they headed home smiling. The “Ottobrata” was an exceptional gift, the weather magnificent, and the company unmatched. The real triumph, in the end, was the cooler full of squid, the perfect haul for preparing the legendary pasta alla Lorenzo, a worthy consolation for the fatigue.

Unfortunately, the bitter cherry on top of a wonderful weekend was the journey home. Traffic, the eternal enemy of weekend trips, struck again, transforming the return into a “classic delirium” that lasted over four hours.

It doesn’t matter. The two days, between the Fiorentina, the party, the fight with the squid, and the excitement of the missed catch, will remain etched in memory: a true shot of the sea and friendship, awaiting the next, inevitable, adventure.
